Identifying and regulating oxygen species is key to controlling product selectivity in the oxidative coupling of methane

Evgenii Kondratenko graduated from Novosibirsk State University (Russia) in 1991 and received his PhD in 1995. In 1997, he was awarded by an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation fellowship at the Institute for Applied Chemistry Berlin-Adlershof (Germany). In 2007, he received his habilitation degree (Venia Legendi) from Technical University Berlin. Since 2020 he is a professor at University Rostock. He is currently the head of the department “Advanced methods for applied catalysis” at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis in Rostock. His research focuses on developing heterogeneous catalysts for the valorization of C1–C4 alkanes and CO2 for sustainable development. The goal is to understand how catalysts work at the most elementary level possible in order to provide the fundamentals for tailored catalyst design. He is interested in the development and application of transient techniques for mechanistic and (micro)kinetic studies.
